NIA team continues to examine 12 suspects
A few more persons were summoned by the agency on Tuesday.
Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) continued the “examination” of 12 people in connection with an ISIS conspiracy case registered by the agency.
The agency had issued notices to the suspects asking them to appear before it for questioning on Monday. A few more persons were summoned by the agency on Tuesday.
Some of the accused summoned by the agency figure in the charge sheet filed by it in a 2016 Abu Dhabi module case and had earlier been counselled by the Telangana police for trying to leave the country to join ISIS in Middle East.
The officials who seized laptops and mobile phones of the suspects are conducting analysis of the gadgets to ascertain the conversation between the persons who were summoned. Sources said that a few of the suspects being questioned had interacted with some persons based in other countries making them suspects.
It may be recalled that the agency had arrested three persons, Adnan Hassan of Karnataka, Sheikh Azhar Ul Islam of Jammu and Kashmir and Mohammad Farhan Shaik of Maharashtra in the Abu Dhabi module case. The three had joined the ISIS and were trying to recruit others.
In the same year, the NIA busted another ISIS module in Hyderabad in June and arrested eight persons while three were declared absconding in the case.
