Supari Killers Murdered BRS councilor's Husband Laxmirajam
Karimnagar: Police have intensified efforts to unravel details of the conspiracy behind the murder of Laxmirajam, husband of BRS councilor Pogula Umarani, in broad daylight at Kargil chowrasta in Korutla town on Tuesday.
Police arrested four hardened criminals involved in the murder. A team of cops led by DSP Ravinder Reddy is investigating the case in Jagtial district.
In her complaint to the police, councillor Umarani had given the names of Nagaraju, Trimurthulu, Vamshi and Satyanarayana. Nagaraju and Vamshi were arrested immediately after the murder. The other two -- Trimurthulu and Satyanarayana of Khanapur in Nirmal district -- were arrested late at night on August 8.
Police sources said Nagaraju, Satyanarayana and Trimurthulu were supari killers. They had indulged in three murder cases in the past. It appeared, however, that they killed Laxmirajam to take revenge on him for supporting a gang that killed their friend Praveen Singh four months ago in relation to a land dispute.
Nagaraju tried to misguide the police by making Satyanarayana and Trimurthulu roam on a motorcycle around a spot where they planned to murder Laxmirajam, so that they can be captured in the CCTV footage.
Nagaraju along with Vamshi, wearing face masks, entered the Kargil chowrasta through the Christian compound where there was no camera vigil, and killed Laxmirajam.
Nagaraju fled the murder spot and entered the nearby fields through Allamaiah gutta and pretended he was working in the fields.
Police learned that Nagaraju purchased the knives from a friend who recently came from Dubai. The officials seized these knives from his possession.
On Wednesday night, some unidentified persons tried to burn the house of Nagaraju by pouring petrol on it. They could only burn the furniture in the house. They also targeted another house of Nagaraju in Ramnagar and damaged the furniture.
