Woman Dies by Suicide Over Son's Failure

HYDERABAD: A 41-year-old mother died by suicide after she came to know that her son failed in his examination. The woman, Nagabushanam Pushpajyoti, ended her life by suicide at her apartment in Bajaj Enclave, Gajularamaram, police said.

Ruthvik Nagabushanam, 18, a first-year Chartered Accountancy (CA) student of a private school had failed in his examination recently, Jeedimetla inspector M. Pavan said.

For the past two weeks, she was upset about Ruthvik’s future and expected that her son would go through the examination, but got stressed when she learnt that he had failed and decided to end her life, Pavan said.

According to police, Ruthvik was the eldest son of Pushpajyoti. She is survived by her younger son, Sumeet and husband Nagabushanam, who works in a private company.

“After receiving a call from the victim’s family members on Wednesday, we rushed to the spot and took up investigation,” the inspector said. A case under section 174 (suspicious death) of the CrPC was registered by the Jeedimetla police and shifted the body to Gandhi hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Further probe is on.
