Gold worth Rs 29 lakh seized at Rajiv Gandhi International airport

Hyderabad: Customs officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport arrested a passenger who came from Dubai and recovered gold bars weighing 932 grams worth around Rs 29 lakh. The passenger had concealed the gold in his trouser pockets and socks.
Officials said the man belonging to a northern district in Telangana was working for a private company and was coming home on vacation. The suppliers had given him eight bars of gold to hand them over to a receiver at Hyderabad.
After a thorough inquiry by the officials, the accused admitted to smuggling gold. He was arrested and the gold was seized.
