Nampally Court Acquits Two Accused of Organising Prostitution in a Star Hotel
Hyderabad: Panjagutta police had in August 2016 raided a star hotel at Somajiguda on information that two persons were organising prostitution in one of the rooms and claimed to have rescued a woman, who was trafficked and forced into prostitution. But a Nampally Court while disposing of the case recently acquitted the duo. The court pointed out several lapses in the investigation done by the police.
The court pointed out that police did not examine the woman whom they claimed to have rescued from prostitution. Police did not provide any record showing that they raided the hotel and also names of the persons whom they inquired at the hotel.
Further, the police did not find the accused persons in the room from where they claimed to have rescued the woman or in the hotel and also the woman did not report against the accused alleging that she was trafficked and forced to indulge in sexual activities, observed the court.
Moreover, police claimed to have raided the hotel and rescued a woman from one of the rooms, but did not seize any hotel records. “ For the reasons best known to the investigating officers, they failed to seize any record from the hotel atleast to show that the accused had booked the room in the hotel,” observed the court.
The court further ruled that absolutely, there is no evidence on record which is less worthy acceptable to hold that the accused were organising prostitution in the Hotel and accordingly, they are entitled to benefit of doubt and acquittal.
