ALAPPUZHA: A Kayamkulam additional sub-inspector was transferred following allegations that he tortured school students after summoning them to police station. Siyad, the errant cop, was shunted out by district police chief S. Surendran to AR Camp here after local people carried out a protest march to the police station on Friday, blocking the traffic.
According to police, the incident took place on Thursday after three Plus Two students were summoned in connection with a brawl among students at MSM HSS. Later, these students were admitted to government hospital Kayamkulam alleging that they were tortured.
The students said that they were being targeted as the ASI’s son had been involved in the brawl at the school and he was roughed up. They alleged the ASI took revenge on them. Meanwhile, the district police chief has asked DySP to submit a detailed report on the incident.
