Rajahmundry: Mild tension mounted at the sub-collector’s office on Saturday when a BC youth tried to immolate himself by dousing himself with petrol, alleging that if the state government provide BC reservation to the Kapus, the latter would get jobs at the cost of BC communities.

As the speakers were addressing the students on the reservation issue, a BC student, Thetali Sai, who completed his intermediate, pulled out a water bottle containing petrol and tried setting himself on fire. However, the BC leaders rushed to his rescue and poured cold water on him. Later, the student was counseled against doing such acts and was handed over to his parents.
They also demanded a hike in mess charges.
