414 penalised for ticketless travel at Tirupati, Renigunta stations
TTEs and RPF personnel collected Rs 1,56,880 as charges and Rs 1,04,000 as penalty from 414 offenders
TIRUPATI: Officials of the Guntakal division of South Central Railways conducted a massive ticket checking exercise at Tirupati and Renigunta railway stations, under the supervision of senior divisional commercial manager (Sr.DCM), Prashanth Kumar, on Thursday.
According to the railway officials, ticket checking squads, comprising 26 Travel Ticket Examiners (TTEs) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, participated in the ticket checking drive and collected Rs 1,56,880 as charges and Rs 1,04,000 as penalty from 414 offenders for ticketless travel.
Officials said that the main objective behind the drive was to curb ticketless travel and instil fear among habitual offenders, apart from preventing the loss of revenue. During the ticket checking drive, the squads inspected 22 trains. The officials also reprimanded male passengers for travelling in ladies coaches and unauthorised passengers, who were travelling in Divyangjan (differently-abled) coaches, and sent them to other coaches.
