Why Bengaluru CEO Suchana Seth Arrested for Alleged Murder of 4-Year-Old Son
AI ethics expert denies charges as authorities probe motive behind incident.
Hyderabad: Suchana Seth, a 39-year-old CEO from Bengaluru, is accused of killing her four-year-old son. She was arrested in Chitradurga and brought back to Goa, where she has been remanded in custody for six days. Seth denies involvement in the crime, claiming the child was already dead when she woke up. The motive behind the murder is still under investigation.
Seth, identified as an AI ethics expert and data scientist, allegedly attempted to conceal her son's body by paying ₹30,000 for a cab from Goa to Bengaluru. The manager of the serviced apartment in Goa, where the incident occurred, reported that staff suggested a cheaper flight, but Seth insisted on the cab. Flight tickets from Goa to Bengaluru are available for much less than the amount she paid for the cab.
The manager further stated that Seth had booked the room from January 6 to January 10, paying in advance, but she checked out on January 8 at 12:30 am, the same day the complaint was filed.
The Superintendent of Police in North Goa, Nidhin Valsan, revealed that the accused was unhappy with a recent court order allowing her husband to spend time with their child. The couple has been in divorce proceedings since 2022. Seth had accused her husband of physical abuse against both her and their son, providing medical documents and WhatsApp chats as evidence. She had also requested ₹2.5 lakh per month in alimony.
Police investigations suggest a pre-planned murder, as two empty bottles of cough syrup were found in the Goa apartment. The post-mortem indicated the possibility of smothering, and psychological tests were conducted on Seth to assess her mental condition and uncover the motive for the crime.
