Unidentified man sexually assaults lone woman in Hyderabad
Two masked men posing as bank representatives approach the woman, one barged into the house
Hyderabad: Two men who posed as bank representatives to gain entrance in the house were booked for sexually assaulting a woman at her residence in Panjagutta.
According to the police, two unidentified men who were dressed in formals and claimed that they are HDFC Bank employees wearing masks approached her while she was alone in the house.
She mentioned in her complaint that the doorbell rang twice but nobody was there when she opened the door. “While I was having food, the doorbell rang for the third time and there were two unidentified men wearing masks with files in their hands. They said they had come from the bank regarding a new policy but I refused their offer and closed the door,” she told the police, adding that before she could lock the door, one of the men pushed her aside and barged into the house, while the other man stood guard outside.
Though she tried to resist and escape, the man overpowered her and raped her, she said, adding that she managed to pull off his mask during the assault and she will be able to identify him if she sees him again.
She narrated the episode to her parents, after which she summoned courage and approached the police on Tuesday. Based on her complaint, the Punjagutta police have booked a rape case and have taken up investigation. They are verifying footage from surveillance cameras in the area to identify and nab the assailants.
