Hyderabad: Congress Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday, in a complaint with the Banjara Hills police, said he has been receiving threatening calls from unknown persons.

The Bhuvanagiri MP, appearing in person to submit the complaint, told the police that besides life threats, they were also posting threatening videos on social media.

The police collected the phone number, video call, chat and WhatsApp numbers used by the unidentified persons.

They filed a case under the IT Act and shared the data with the cybercrime team to trace the IP number used and identify the suspects.

“We will take necessary action against the persons who have issued threats after identifying them soon,” M. Narender, Banjara Hills police inspector, said.

Recently, an audio clip of Venkat Reddy purportedly threatening party leader C. Sudhakar’s son had gone viral recently. They later filed a case against the MP.
