28-year-old man rapes 6-year-old girl at Bodavada village in Krishna district
The girl also went to watch the play along with her parents and grandparents.
Vijayawada: A man raped a 6-year-old girl at Bodavada village in Veerullapadu mandal in Krishna district. The incident happened on Sunday night when the locals have gathered to watch a stage play on the life of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, as part of his birth anniversary celebrations.
The girl also went to watch the play along with her parents and grandparents. When the stage play was underway, the girl has gone to attend nature’s call telling her paternal grandmother.
When the girl moved away from the gathering, one Gunti Ishaq, 28, a daily wage labourer and native of the same village, lured her with chocolates, took her to a nearby water tank and committed the crime.
When the girl had not returned, her grandmother raised an alarm and asked the girl’s brother to look for her. He went around looking for her and heard screams of the girl. The frightened boy came back and told his parents, and took them to the water tank.
The girl’s grandmother reached the water tank and caught the youth red-handed. However, Ishaq pushed away the old woman and fled the place.
The victim’s mother lodged a complaint against Gunti Ishaq with the Veerullapadu police. Sub-inspector P. Kishore registered a case under POCSO Act and 375 of IPC.
Nandigama Rural inspector Y. Satya Kishore is investigating the case. He said a special team was formed to nab Ishaq. Following the incident, the situation in the village became tense as the villagers too started searching for Ishaq. They are of the view that instead of arresting, he should be lynched.
