Hyderabad: A realtor from KPHB approached Cyberabad police commissioner alleging high handedness by the Petbasheerabad police in a civil dispute. H. Shiva Pradeep said that SI Koteswar Rao and his men tortured him at the police station and forced him to sign blank papers. He said the torture in the police station crime room was audio recorded by the SI. The commissioner directed Balanagar DCP to probe the matter.
Shiva Pradeep said that he had lent Rs 75 lakh to his friend Ravindra Prasad in 2016 and as surety Prasad had given his land documents. On April 1, Prasad asked him to meet him near a hospital in Kompally to pay back the first instalment of the loan. “When I reached there Ravindra started abusing me. Meanwhile, some persons claiming to be from the Petbasheerabad police station asked me to come to the station. After reaching there SI Koteshwar Rao directed me to settle the loan and return the land documents,” Pradeep said.
When Pradeep said that it was a civil matter the SI abused him. “They beat me with a belt and lathis. They audio recorded the incident. They also took signatures forcibly and warned me not to reveal the matter and that if I do I will be charged with false cases,” Shiva Pradeep said. Speaking to DC, Balanagar DCP Y Saishekar said, "I spoke to Shiva Pradeep and asked him to file a complaint against the SI. We will investigate and if the allegations are true action will be taken against the SI," the DCP said.
