HYDERABAD: A  woman lodged a complaint against police inspector Nagendar Babu, presently posted at the Secretariat, for leaving his dogs unleashed in the common area of their apartment in Kothapet, LB Nagar police said.

Complainant D. Jothsna told the LB Nagar police she panicked after a Labrador belonging to Nagendar Babu pounced on her at 11.30 pm on April 8, when she was collecting milk from a dispenser installed close to the lift on the ground floor of Manjira Heights.

“When I questioned the inspector, he used abusive language and threatened me,” Jothsna said. “Similar incidents have taken place in the gated community. Senior citizens and kids are scared to come out, fearing the dogs that usually are left unleashed,” she said.

“Earlier also we requested Nagendar Babu, who is our neighbour, to chain his dogs, but he did not listen,” Jothsna said.

Nagendar Babu claimed: “My dogs are well-trained and friendly. I have been living in the apartments for the past 10 months, and they have never caused any harm to the resident.” He claimed the dogs were familiar with Jothsna and other residents. “She might have got scared as the dogs went close to her as they wanted to play,” he claimed.

Based on complaints from Jyotsna and the inspector, cases were been booked against both the parties under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and 504 (intentionally insults, threatens any person) of IPC, LB Nagar police said.
