Andhra Pradesh: Man, mother get life imprisonment for killing woman

The judge found Rambabu and his mother guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment.

Visakhapatnam: The 12th additional district judge A. Satyanand on Wednesday sentenced Y. Rambabu, 35, and his mother Y. Appala Narsa, 58, to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 for killing his wife Y. Govindamma, 23, over additional dowry.

Public Prosecutor M. Venu Gopala Rao said that Rambabu of Atchutapuram married Govindamma in 2008 and at the time of marriage he accepted Rs 2 lakh and some gold jewellery as dowry and the couple has a baby boy. However Ram-babu, along with his mother, harassed Govin-damma for additional dowry and they set her afire on March 14, 2013 and the victim died while undergoing treatment at the government hospital at Anakapalle on March 19, 2013.

The judge found Rambabu and his mother guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 each on both of them.
