Hyderabad: Three persons — a former employee of a cash management company and two drivers — who had allegedly stole Rs 11.9 lakh cash from an HDFC ATM unit at Punjagutta were arrested on Friday.

Police were able to track the trio down using CCTV footage. Officials said that Sudheer Reddy, who had access to passwords of the ATM machine, was the main culprit. He hatched the plan shortly after his resignation. The other two accused were identified as A. Yellareddy and P. Bhaskar.

DCP West Zone A. Venkateswar Rao said that Reddy 23, was working as a custodian at Brinks Security Private limited and was entrusted to deposit money in ATM machines. Brinks security operates 938 machines across the twin cities. Two months ago, he resigned to his job and hatched a plan.

Sudheer, after resigning from job, had not returned the machine’s key and had also remembered access codes of the ATM machine.

“They entered the kiosk and opened the machine using the key and got access to the cash using the password which Sudheer already had. They stole Rs 11,94,500,” an official said.
