Vijayawada police arrests habitual offender, recovers gold and cash
VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada police arrested a habitual burglar Kona Naga Durga Mohan, 28, on Saturday who committed theft in a house at Adarsh Nagar Colony under Gunadala police station limits.
Deputy police commissioner of Vijayawada Vishal Gunny said that they had received a complaint on June 7 that the complainant's house locker was broken open by some miscreants and 432 grams of gold from an iron safe and Rs 2.50 lakh was stolen.
Gunadala Police registered a case under sections 457 and 380 IPC and conducted the investigation on the directions of NTR district police commissioner Kanthi Rana Tata.
The Police set up six special investigation teams under the direction of crime ADCP P. Venkata Ratnam and crime ACP and Vijayawada Central ACP. After analysing the clues collected from the spot, the police put special vigil on the movements of the suspects.
Vishal Gunny said that the police detained the accused Kona Naga Durga Mohan at Vambay Colony and seized 840 grams of gold worth around Rs 46,00,000 and Rs 1.2 lakh cash. He said that the accused was released from jail on May 28, he was involved in several theft cases and didn't change his behaviour and continued thefts. He added that the police arrested the accused, and presented him before the court. Further investigation is under progress.
