THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The City Police on Sunday recorded the arrest of a history sheeter and his aide for allegedly murdering a 45-year-old and injuring his wife at Koliyoor. The accused were identified as Anilkumar alias Kolus Binu, 40, of Vattappara and his aide Chandrasekharan alias Chandran, 37, of Vellore, Tamil Nadu.

Binu’s mother-in-law turned live-in partner who was earlier nabbed in connection with the case was let off, as she was not directly connected to the murder. As per the confessions given by the accused to the police, they broke into the house intending to steal money and ornaments but had bludgeoned Maryadas and his wife Sheeja as they woke up.

Binu was known to the family since some time but was let off after they came to know that he used to engage in minor thefts. Binu was married to a Tirunelveli native who recently attempted suicide after she learnt about her husband’s affair with her mother. Binu lived at Koliyoor for a short while and came under the police scanner after some local residents raised suspicions. The duo were arrested by a team of shadow police officials from Tamil Nadu.
