Telangana: Youngsters addicted to online gambling
The ordinance also bans mutka, satta, wagering and betting.
Hyderabad: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan promulgated the Telangana Gaming (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2017, imposing a ban on online gambling and betting.
The ordinance stated that several people, particularly young people, are becoming addicted to online rummy and this is affecting their family life and careers and has also become a threat to public order.
The ban comes into effect immediately. The ordinance also bans mutka, satta, wagering and betting. A new clause to ban 'gaming with stakes' has also been included.
Wagering and betting include collection or soliciting of bets, the receipt or distribution of prizes in money or in other forms, any act which is intended to aid, induce, solicit or facilitate wagering or betting or such collection, soliciting, receipt or distribution, any act of risking money or otherwise on the unknown result of an event including on a game of skill.
