When popular actor fumbled and lost cool

KOCHI: The day after the world came to know about the abduction and the sexual assault of a leading actor in the night of February 17, the needle of suspicion was on actor Dileep but he dodged any such suggestion with his usual nonchalance. He even joined others in AMMA to express shock and disbelief in the attack at a function in Durbar Hall ground.

A few days into investigation, the police team reached his home at Aluva but the very suggestion to this direction in the media reports that did not name him enraged him. However, it all subsided including any suggestion to conspiracy after the arrest of Pulsar Suni and with the Chief Minister also ruling out conspiracy. In March, his film Georgettan’s Pooram was released but it bombed at the box office, following which Dileep was also upset which came out through some of his TV interviews. He hinted that certain people were plotting his downfall and that if he is hit, he would not watch silently.

Later the surfacing of Pulsar Suni’s letter to Dileep threw the scene into a spin which put Dileep on the defensive. Dileep tried to put up a brave face saying that he was being blackmailed by Pulsar Suni. Dileep courted trouble later when he told an interviewer that the assaulted actor and Pulsar Suni were friends. When media arc lights zoomed on the case further and it became hot topic of public debate, Dileep said that he would take legal action against those who levelled ‘baseless’ allegations against him.

Prior to his and Narishah’s 13-hour-long questioning on June 29, Dileep said that police was conducting investigation on the basis of his complaint on the blackmail attempt by Pulsar Suni. He also said that he was summoned on June 29 also as part of this investigation. Dileep even came out with a statement that he was ready to undergo naco analysis test or barin mapping to prove his innocence in the case. Dileep was also seen at the AMMA general body meeting and at the inauguration of his new film exhibitor body FEUOK. Like a trained actor he kept his cool and remained silent.
