Hyderabad: Baby recovered in 4 days
Police said it all started with a couple, K. Nagesh and Teja, who were unable to have a child.
Hyderabad: The Shamshabad police cracked a kidnap case reported four days ago and nabbed the six-member gang that had made off with a 21-month old toddler.
Police said the toddler was stolen by the gang when her parents B. Venkatamma and Karunakar, who work as labourers, were sleeping in front of the shutter of the MRO office on Tuesday.
Police said it all started with a couple, K. Nagesh and Teja, who were unable to have a child. They were trying to adopt a child and told their relative K. Lalitha. about it.
They then planned to kidnap a baby from ragpickers who live on the roadsides.
They contacted three others, G. Kalyan, S. Raju and S. Vanith, and promised to pay them Rs 1 lakh to steal a baby. All six were subsequently arrested.
Shamshabad DCP N. Prakash Reddy said, “They found Venkatamma and Karunakar sleeping with the baby in front of the MRO office at Shamshabad and stole him on Tuesday.”
The parents approached the Shamshabad police. Mr Prakash Reddy said, “Three special teams were formed and they made intense efforts to trace the boy. CCTV footage played a major role in identifying the kidnappers and nabbing them”.
