AP police cracks down on fake investment scheme

Kurnool: Nandikotkur police have arrested three of the five accused for defrauding unemployed youth by offering them government jobs. Police recovered ₹35 lakh from the fraudsters.

Speaking to media, Nandyal SP K. Raghuveer Reddy on Thursday identified the accused as Nata Sekhar from Prakasam district, Surya Devara Anil Kumar from Bengaluru, and Palem Ashok Kumar Reddy from Nellore district. However, Veera Chaitanya and Sanaullah from Hyderabad are absconding.

The SP said the five accused promised jobs to unemployed youth in various government departments. This way, they collected ₹49.24 lakhs from several of the unemployed. The fraudsters provided their victims fabricated appointment orders, inviting them for training in offices like income tax, railways, agriculture and sachivalayam.

The issue came to light when one of the victims K. Umadevi from Nandikotkur town lodged a complaint with the police.

Police investigated the case and arrested three of the five fraudsters at the RTC New Bus Station in Kurnool city on Thursday.

SP Raghuveer commended efforts of Nandikotkur police, including circle inspector O. Vijaya Bhaskar and sub-Inspector N.V. Ramana, in tracing the accused.
