Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Special Operations Team busted a milk adulteration racket and nabbed the unit owner, who was adulterating milk by mixing edible oils to make users believe it as pure oil. The suspect was identified as Thakkalla Kondal Reddy.

According to the police, Kondal Reddy, a farmer from Bomma-laramaram in Yadadri district, entered into milk business a few years ago. He would collect milk from traders in the surrounding villages and sell it to the customers.

But when he could not earn profits from the business, he decided to adulterate the milk he procured by mixing it with edible oils and started selling to public.

“He mixed two liters of oil in a container of 40 liter milk and sold it. He has been mixing the oil with a small quantity of milk in a mixer and then, adding this mixture to the container and making it look like like pure milk with extra fat content in it,” an official from the Special Operations Team said. He purchased milk from sellers for upto Rs 36 per liter and sold it for '50 per liter.

The sleuths arrested and seized six cans of adulterated milk, each containing 40 liters, oil packets, Urea, Mixer grinder and a pick up van and handed them over to Bommalaramaram police for further inquiry.
