BENGALURU: A 20-year-old sex worker, who hatched a plot to rob the owner of the brothel where she worked, was arrested along with her five associates by the Subramanyapura police.
The police arrested Ashwini, a resident of T Dasarahalli in Peenya, Anand, 25, Pavan alias Preetham, 19, of Byadarahalli, Bharath alias Maari, 18, of ONGC Colony in Kamalanagar, Revanna, 20, of Kamalanagar, and Charan alias Maani, 19, of Kurubarahalli in J.C. Nagar.
Police said that Ashwini, who hailed from Bidar, was a sex worker. The three other accused were staying with her 15-20 days prior to the dacoity. They all were in dire need of money and Ashwini allegedly hatched a plot to commit dacoity at the house of Rajeshwari, who ran a brothel at her house located in Narayananagar in Doddakallasandra and was well off.
“On February 2, Ashwini called Rajeshwari and told her that she was coming to her house along with her boyfriend and she needed room for an hour. When Rajeshwari accepted, Ashwini along with other gang members went near her house in a car. Ashwini entered the house first and few minutes later the other five accused barged in. They threaten Rajeshwari that they would expose her and tell her husband and other family members that she was running prostitution racket. Just then Rajeshwari’s husband returned home. The accused apply pepper spray on the couple and rob them of gold and other valuables,” the police said.
“None of the family members had idea that Rajeshwari was running flesh trade. So, she initially hesitated to give full details to the police. As the investigation progressed, she revealed the whole story. Based on her information, Ashwini was picked up and even the other five were arrested,” the police said.
The accused, Anand, was in need of money to pay car loans, while Pavan wanted money to start his own dance class. The police have recovered a gold chain, ring, mobile phone and a car used to commit the offence.
