Youth injured in revenge attack by friends

Hyderabad: A mob of 15 youngsters assaulted 20-year-old I. Jayaram in full public view near Panjagutta metro station late Saturday night. When police rushed to the spot after being alerted by the victim’s friends, the attackers fled from the scene.

Police found that the group, led by one Devaragata Sriram, an engineering student, was involved in the attack. The victim and the accused belong to Khammam district and have known each other since childhood.

They were having differences over petty issues for a long time. Jayaram and his friends had assaulted Sriram, who tried to settle scores on Saturday, police said.

On a complaint from Jayaram, Panjagutta police registered a case against Sriram and his friends and started an investigation. N Giridhar, SI Panjagutta said Jayaram is admitted in a private hospital.
