Three arrested for sacrilege in Amritsar
The accused were criminals and a number of theft and loot cases had been registered against them, says police.

Amritsar: Three persons were arrested for allegedly desecrating religious books in a gurdwara, police said.
The accused, identified as Prem Titu, Raju Masih and Shamsher, also stole money from the donation box, SHO Police Station, Matewal, Mukhtyar Singh said here, adding that they were criminals and a number of theft and loot cases had been registered against them.
The incident occurred in the wee hours at a gurdwara located at village 'Ramdiwali Musalmanna' falling under police station Matewal nearly 25 km from here. The accused were nabbed by villagers and handed over to police.
Last year, Punjab had witnessed a series of sacrilege incidents, sparking protests in different parts of the state.
