Hyderabad: Police arrested a man for burgling houses and stealing automobiles on Saturday. The suspect, Pulijala Chinna Yellaiah, 49, was wanted for several burglaries and automobile thefts. The police seized three bikes, three cars, 50 grams of gold and three laptops from him worth around '14 lakh. Police said he was arrested 22 times since 1992. Yellaiah steals bikes and cars from parking lots and uses them to roam around posh colonies looking for locked houses to burgle. He breaks open locks with a screwdriver and iron rods and steals cash, gold and silver ornaments.

He was arrested by Punjagutta police in 2015 and was sent to judicial custody under the PD Act. After his release he burgled four houses in Hyderabad. He was arrested by Chikkadpally police on January 8. But he managed to escape, and later burgled seven houses and some automobiles. Police said that he had escaped from the Government Chest Hospital at Erragadda in 2013 and from the NIMS Hospital in Punjagutta in 2015 while undergoing treatment during his judicial custody at the Cherlapally central prison. Yellaiah was arrested by the task force central zone team of Hyderabad under the supervision of deputy commissioner of police B. Limba Reddy.
