Bengaluru: A 29-year-old auto driver was stabbed to death with beer bottles by unidentified bike-borne men after a minor scuffle turned into a heated argument in Byyappanahalli police limits late on Sunday night.
The deceased, Venkatesh, was a resident of Malleshpalya. Around 11.30 pm, Venkatesh parked his autorickshaw near JM Palya 4th Cross and sat for drinking along with two of his relatives. Two unidentified bike-borne men stopped near the autorickshaw and asked if they knew of any mechanic nearby.
Venkatesh, who was drunk, asked them to find the garage themselves or go home. This made the bike-borne men angry and they picked up a fight with Venkatesh. The quarrel in no time turned physical and in the heat of the argument the bike-borne men stabbed Venkatesh with broken beer bottles, killing him on the spot. They then fled from the spot.
Byyappanahalli police who were informed about the incident reached the spot and conducted the mahazar. The cops have registered a case and are trying to trace the killers.
