Armoor police arrested seven persons including two women on Monday in a honour killing case.
Nizamabad: Armoor police arrested seven persons including two women on Monday in a honour killing case. Police said the arrested people killed one Daya Ajay Kumar, 23, of Armoor on April 5 as he had married one Sushma, a woman constable. The deceased belongs to the SC Mala community and his wife is a BC.
Both Ajay Kumar and Sushma belonged to Bheemgal and have been staying in Armoor as Ajay was pursuing post-graduation. Sushma is working as a woman constable at the Armoor police station. They fell in love and got married on November 22, 2015.
Sushma's family did not accept her marriage with a Dalit youth. Rudraveni Savithri, 56, the mother of Sushma, offered Rs 1.50 lakh to one Dhoddolla Mallaiah alias Mallesh, 35, of Bheemgal to kill Ajay Kumar. Mallesh approached Thum Rajesh, 21, Akkepogu Mozes, 23, Potte Praveen, 23, Boddula Srinath, of Secunderabad, to kill Ajay Kumar, police said. DSP Akula Ram Reddy said the killers went to the room of Ajay in Armoor on April 5 and strangled him. The wife and parents of the deceased filed a complaint with the police he said. The accused youths worked as salesmen in shopping malls in Hyderabad, he said. The DSP said that Savithri hired the youths to kill her son-in-law for Rs 1.50 lakh. Police seized the cellphone of the deceased and Rs 55,000 cash from the accused. He said that all the seven people including Savithri and Rudraveni Lakshmi were arrested in Armoor.
