Bengaluru: A jilted lover murdered a 25-year-old woman after she refused to marry him and also injured another woman, who tried to save the victim. The incident was reported in Deepanjali Nagar in Byatarayanapura police station limits on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Shobha, a post-graduate, while the accused Girish, a painter by profession, is absconding. Both were residents of Deepanjalinagar.
According to the police, Girish was already married and has two children and they were living in Tumakuru.
He and Shobha knew each other for around three years. Girish was allegedly forcing Shobha to marry him, but she was not willing.
The duo had reportedly fought over the issue on several occasions. On Tuesday around 11.30 am, Girish went to Shobha’s house and picked up a quarrel over the same issue. When Shobha told him in clear terms that she was not interested, he allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed her repeatedly. In a bid to escape, she ran out and entered her neighbour Vijayamma’s house. But the accused chased her and stabbed her repeatedly to death.
Vijayamma, who tried to rescue Shobha, also sustained minor injuries. Soon after the incident, the accused fled, the police added. Byatarayanapura police have registered a case and special teams have been formed to nab Girish.
