Hyderabad: Miraculous escape for 18-year-old biker

Hyderabad: An 18-year-old youth had a miraculous escape on Saturday morning when his bike came under a truck in Habeebnagar on Saturday.
Police said P. Pavan, 18, a resident of Mallepally, was driving towards Loyola School in Habeebnagar. When he reached the road near Amba Hospital he lost control and rammed a water tanker. Pavan and his bike came under the truck.
Truck driver Ramu who saw this suddenly applied brakes and the truck stopped.
The cleaner who was sitting near the cabin door fell down due to the application of sudden brakes and suffered minor injuries on his hands and legs. Pavan also suffered minor injuries on his legs.
Police said that Pavan had no driving license and was not wearing a helmet. He will be booked under the MV Act for violations.
Drunk motorist attacks home guard
A 28-year-old man who tried to escape during a drunk driving check operation, hit a home guard and injured him seriously, when he tried to stop his bike. The man, Rohith Kumar, was drunk.
Police said Rohith Kumar is an engineer and works with a consultancy firm at Ameerpet. On Friday night, he was returning on his bike from Madhapur, while the police was conducting drunk driving check on Road #10 in Jubilee Hills.
“He tried to flee but home guards intercepted him. He drove the bike into them at high speed and injured a man,” inspector S. Venkat Reddy said. Home guard Phanindra suffered a serious head injury. He had to be given eight stitches on the head but is now out of danger. Rohith also fell from the bike but escaped. He was arrested.
