Bengaluru: Wife addicted to Facebook, couple hang self
The police said that one of them committed suicide first and the other one followed but they are not sure who committed suicide first.
Bengaluru: A couple hanged themselves from the ceiling of their residence after a fight over the wife’s alleged Facebook addiction on Monday morning in Bagalagunte police limits. The two were found hanging from the ceiling in separate rooms, while their two-year-old son was found crying in the hall.
The deceased has been identified as Soumya, 23, a homemaker, and her husband, Anoop, 28, a deputy manager with a food manufacturing unit in Peenya. The couple, from Somawarpet in Kodagu shifted to the city one-and-a-half years ago and were staying at Ramaiah Layout in Bagalagunte.
According to the police, Anoop did not like his wife spending long hours on Facebook and the two often fought over it. On Sunday night around 11.30, the couple again had a fight and Anoop called her brother Ravichandra, who lives in Somawarpet and told him that he cannot live with his sister anymore and asked him to take her back home. Ravichandra convinced him to end the fight till he visits them next time and talks to her.
On Monday morning at 9.30, Soumya called her brother and told him about the fight with her husband and asked her brother to come to the city. He immediately left for Bengaluru city and reached their house by 1.30 pm. When they did not open the door even after several calls, he informed the police who broke open the door to find them hanging.
The police said that one of them committed suicide first and the other one followed but they are not sure who committed suicide first.
