Chennai: Car runs amok, kills two
The car first hit a two-wheeler at around 5 pm on Tuesday when plying from Chengalpattu towards Thirukazhukundram.
Chennai: In a tragic incident, two persons were killed and a man severely injured after a car ran amok in Kancheepuram on Tuesday evening. A speeding car ran rammed two motorbikes as the driver was allegedly driving the car in an inebriated condition.
The car first hit a two-wheeler at around 5 pm on Tuesday when plying from Chengalpattu towards Thirukazhukundram. Murugan (35) and his wife Senthamizh Selvi (28), residents of Poocheri in Mamallapuram, were riding towards Chengalpattu to attend a marriage function.
“The accident happened near Malayalivattam, Nattam on the Thirukazhukundran- Chengalpattu road,” police said. The car then rammed another two-wheeler in which postman Lucas(48) of Manamathi was travelling, Police said, he was riding home after work in Chengalpattu when the accident happened. Police sources said the car halted fatter hitting the wall of a house and a tree.
In the impact, Senthamizh Selvi and Lucas died on the spot and their bodies were taken to Chengalpattu hospital for post-mortem. On learning of the accident, the Chengalpattu Taluk police rushed to the spot and shifted Murugan to a government hospital at Chengalpattu. The driver of the car, Munuswamy (52) also suffered severe injury and was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Government hospital for treatment. The Chengalpattu Taluk police registered a case and are investigating the case.
In another case in Pallikaranai, 50-year-old Sridhar was killed on the spot after a speeding tanker lorry rammed the two-wheeler in which he was travelling on Tuesday afternoon.
