Hoardings banned for 60 days: GHMC

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has decided to ban display of advertisements on hoardings, unipoles, uni-structures, arches, foot over bridges, cantilevers from June 15 to August 15 for safety reasons during the monsoon.

GHMC Commissioner M. Dana Kishore issued orders to this effect on Tuesday. All advertisement agencies have been directed to remove advertisement material within 24 hours.

Mr Kishore reviewed the monsoon preparedness with all line departments including Hyderabad Metro Rail, electricity department, IMD, Water and Sewerage Board and said that the corporation had formed 300 disaster response teams.

Mr Kishore said the civic body had identified 195 critical water stagnation points which would attended to. Responding to a request by the traffic police, he said road repairs will be completed in a week.

He said the corporation had already imposed a ban on digging of roads and made clear that agencies will not be allowed to do so without prior permission.
