Bengaluru: Another woman threatened in cab
The woman took to Twitter to complain to the city police commissioner.
Bengaluru: Despite promising safety of women while travelling in private cabs, the police and state government have failed in their attempt as a woman from Assam was allegedly threatened, taken to an isolated place and was asked to cancel her ride by an Uber driver on Tuesday.
The woman took to Twitter to complain to the city police commissioner. She alleged that the driver, Arun Kumar, threatened her into cancelling the trip as traffic was heavy because of rains. When she protested, he drove into a narrow lane and threatened to take her to some lonely place if she didn’t do as she was told.
In her complaint, she said, “This was what happened with me today and I am still shocked thinking about what could have happened if I had refused to come out of his cab for a few more minutes. This shows that even after so many cases being registered against Uber, they don’t have a code to be followed by the drivers. They have still not thought of training the drivers with professionalism, or the consequences of allowing some goons to become drivers.” She said that the incident occurred on Tuesday morning near Bellandur. She had booked the cab from H.S.R. Layout.
