KAKINADA: Ravulapalem police have arrested Ulava Suresh on a charge of pushing his lover Puppala Suhasini, his stepdaughter Lakshmi Sai Keerthana and his one-year-old daughter Jessy into the Godavari River on August 6.

Amalapuram Superintendent of Police S. Sridhar told the media on Friday that Suhasini had got estranged from her husband and entered into a relationship with Suresh in 2019. Suhasini had a 13-year-old girl Lakshmi Sai Keerthana with her first husband. She gave birth to Jessy after entering into a relationship with Suresh.

Suresh got into the habit of taking money from Suhasini frequently and spending the same. When this became frequent, Suhasini objected, which led to quarrels between them.

In the interim, Suresh married another woman from Yedida village near Mandapeta in Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district without the knowledge of Suhasini. However, Suhasini came to know about it and this too led to the clashes between them.

Suresh then decided to kill Suhasini, his stepdaughter Keerthana and his daughter Jessy to clear the way for his married life.

On August 6, Suresh took Suhasini and the kids to Rajamahendravaram and reached the Gowthami Bridge at Ravulapalem. He told Suhasini that they will take a selfie along with Godavari waters. While taking the selfie, he pushed Suhasini into the river.

On seeing this, Keerthana, who was holding Jessy in the car, stepped out and started running away from the spot. Suresh chased and snatched Jessy from her and threw Jessy into the river. He later caught up with Keerthana and threw her into the river. Keerthana, fortunately, caught hold of a pipe under the bridge and dialled 100. Police rushed to the spot and rescued her.

Keerthana informed the police about the happenings.
