Muharram violence: 19-year-old stabbed in Bengaluru
It is said that the trio were under the influence of alcohol when they stabbed Azmath.
BENGALURU: Tension prevailed in K.R. Puram when a 19-year-old youth was stabbed to death by three people during a Muharram procession in K R Puram police station limits on Monday night.
Police said the deceased has been identified as Azmath Pasha, son of Naveed, a mechanic by profession and a resident of Tent Road in Mahadevapura.
The arrested are Suhail Pasha alias Wheel, Nayaz Pasha alias Bond and Khader, all residents of J.C. Layout in K.R. Puram. It is said that the trio were under the influence of alcohol when they stabbed Azmath.
They have been booked under Sections 323, 324, 504, 506 and 302 r/w 34 IPC. According to the police, the incident took place around 10.30 pm near Little Bloom School.
Azmath along with his brother had gone to attend the torch procession, when his brother Sayyed Roshan, 18, by mistake stamped the leg of one of the accused.
A heated argument broke out between Roshan and the accused. The situation turned ugly when Azmath intervened and in the melee, he slapped Suhail.
An enraged Suhail called his friends Khadeer and Nayaz. The trio attacked and overpowered Azmath, while Suhail stabbed him and fled. Passersby rushed Azmath to a private hospital, where he succumbed after a few hours.
Based on the complaint filed by Roshan, the K.R. Puram police arrested the three accused and remanded them to judicial custody. K.R. Puram police have registered a case in this connection.
