Chennai: A day after a college student rammed his car into the centre median on RK Salai in an inebriated condition, a city court has ordered for his driving licence to be suspended for six months.

 R. Karthik Narayanan (20), a second year college student,  was returning after a party during the early hours of Monday  when he lost control of his car. He and his friends who escaped with injuries in the crash, abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Adyar traffic investigation wing personnel traced the car owner and booked Karthik under  sections 185  of the Motor Vehicles Act and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the Indian Penal Code. Senior civil judge L. Abraham Lincoln who ordered suspension of actor Jai’s driver’s licence issued similar orders on Tuesday  against the college student.
