Three youth from Delhi held for offering to exchange dollars
The goons would show the dollars being offered and persuade the victims to leave urgently as the police was coming to the area.
Nellore: Nellore crime police and Kovur police on Thursday held three youth from New Delhi who were found cheating some individuals offering to exchange dollars.
The accused, identified as Mohmmad Jabbar, Sirajul and Ridham Khan, selected those speaking Hindi from Nellore and the neihbourhood and offering them American dollars at a very low rate in return for Indian currency. They would, however, be mixing waste papers cut into the size of dollars with the currency they give wrapped in a cloth to cheat them.
The goons would show the dollars being offered and persuade the victims to leave urgently as the police was coming to the area. They would advise them to count the dollars after going home.
Among those they cheated was one Hyder Ali of Ranganayakulapeta in Nellore who was duped for Rs 50,000 after being invited to Kovur. Hyder complained to Kovur police after he realised that he had been taken for a ride.
Crime CI Baji John Saida, SI Shaik Sheriff and Kovur SI A. Venkat Rao, along with their team, nabbed the accused under the supervision of the crime DSP Balasundar Rao and recovered the '50,000 as well as 20 dollar notes.
The DSP said the trio have taken a house on rent at Mansoor Nagar in Nellore three months back and cheated many people. No one came forward to complain because of various reasons. DSP said he has recommended rewards to the officers and constables involved in arresting the accused.
