Online gaming claims life of Hanamkonda youth
Warangal: A 23-year-old youth of Hanamkonda district became a victim of an online gaming app here on Tuesday
Rama Krishna, resident of Mallakpally village of Dharmasagar mandal, had been working with a private company in Hanamkonda. In a selfie video before consuming a pesticide, he said he had been living in Revenue Colony in a rented room. His friends dragged him into playing online cricket betting. Initially, he spent ₹300–400 on gaming, when his losses mounted to ₹1 lakh. So, he deleted the app, and convinced recovery agents that he would pay the lost amount later.
However, his friends sent him another gaming app link saying they are earning a lot of money and he too could do so. Listening to them, he started betting on online cricket again and lost around ₹10 lakh. As recovery agents had started harassing and humiliating him, he is being forced to commit suicide, Rama Krishna said before consuming poison.
His friends arrived and immediately rushed him to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital, where he succumbed on Tuesday.
Police have registered a case and are investigating.
