ONGC pipeline leak leads to panic

As water from the drain started to surface in bubbles, villagers alerted the ONGC authorities.

People reiterated their grievance that ONGC activities have polluted the soil and water in the village and also affected the health of people.

Rajahmundry: ONGC pipeline developed minor gas leak causing panic among the residents of Sankaraguptam village of Malikipuram mandal in East Godavari on Saturday. Gas pipeline connected to well Nos. 8, 9, 10 and 11 and to the Gas Collecting Station at Adavipalem near Sankaraguptam drain developed a leak that lasted for about three hours. As water from the drain started to surface in bubbles, villagers alerted the ONGC authorities. ONGC’s rescue team plunged into action and plugged the leak. The panic-stricken villagers heaved a sigh of relief.
