Accused in Hemamalini murder case arrested

Kakinada: Pithapuram police have arrested a 36-old-person Alla Narayana of Sitharamapuram village on Thursday on the charge of killing his wife Hemamalini on December 24.

Circle inspector Y.R.K. Srinivas said Narayana and Hemamalini had got married 10 years ago. They had no children or relatives.

The accused had informed police that his wife had slipped from a guava tree, suffered severe injuries on her spinal cord and died.

But police got suspicious and investigated Hemamalini’s death. On interrogation subsequently, the accused confessed that he had been in a drunken state when his wife asked him money for their survival. Angry, he slapped her and she fell on the bed, injuring her spinal cord. She later died.

Following the confession, police took Narayana into custody. He has been produced before JFCM Court at Pithapuram, which remanded him to custody for 14 days.
