Complaint was lodged with the Uppal police by one Raghupathi Reddy on Sunday who alleged that a staffer from the GHMC's Uppal circle was found taking photographs of his under-construction building on Saturday.

Hyderabad: Mirza Azam Baig, an attention diversion expert, robs his victims by accusing them of theft. Police said that his modus operandi is to stop people randomly on the road, accuse them of theft and start a fight. When things turn hot, he demands to search their pockets or vehicles and steals money using pocket picking techniques.

Police said that he had stolen around Rs 1 lakh from different people. Seuths of West Zone Commissioner’s Task Force arrested Baig on Sunday. “On January 31, Baig stopped a vehicle near DRDL Road in Santosh Nagar, pulled out the driver and accused him of theft. As the driver became stunned at the sudden accusation, Baig accused him of stealing his credit card from a restaurant. He started abusing the driver and searched his vehicle and pockets. In seconds, he stole Rs 10,000 from the man and fled,” said a police official.

In another case, on January 23, Baig stopped a vehicle and told the driver that he had lost his PAN card. He then started searching him and started a fight. During the quarrel, Baig picked the victim’s pocket and escaped with '25,000.
Baig, who belongs to Amberpet, is an autorickshaw driver. He started committing crimes to fund his luxuries. He was remanded to judicial custody by the police.
