Hyderabad: Police arrested the man who threw his nephew into the Hussainsagar after a property dispute with his brother. The suspect, M. Santhosh Goud, had lured his brother’s son M. Dhanush, 5, promising to buy Holi colours for him. Police arrested Santhosh for kidnap and attempt to murder.
On Saturday evening, Lake police rescued five-year-old M. Dhanush from Hussainsagar while he was drowning.
“The kid was playing at home in the afternoon. Santhosh asked him if he wanted to come with him to buy colours for Holi. The kid’s mother saw him going out. Later, at 7 pm, Santhosh returned and told Dhanush’s parents that the kid went missing. Then they lodged a complaint,” said sub inspector Khader Hussain.
Police said that Santhosh was angry with his brother for refusing to partition their ancestral property. “The property dispute had been going on for a year. Santhosh had fought with his brother Mahesh Goud three days ago. He then decided to kill Mahesh’s son to take revenge,” said the SI.
Santhosh will be produced in court on Monday by the police.
