Bengaluru: While the kingpin of the second PU chemistry question paper leak case, Shivakumaraiah, had claimed that he had no role in the case, his nephew Kiran alias Kumaraswamy has revealed that he himself had supplied the question paper to his uncle.

CID sources said that Shivakumaraiah had claimed that he had parted ways with Kiran in 2013, after differences between them over sharing the money derived out of question paper leaks. “But Kiran, who was arrested on Tuesday, revealed that it was a card played by the Shivakumaraiah to hoodwink the police. He has also confessed that both were operating together and he himself had given the question paper to Shivakumaraiah, who had sold the same to several people through his network,” an official said.

Shivakumaraiah and Kiran were arrested together by Tumakuru police in 2013. After that the duo came up with a plan that they should make the police believe that they have parted ways, so that at least one of them would not be caught. As per that, when CCB police picked Shivakumaraiah in 2014, he had not revealed the name of Kiran. He followed the same when the CID sleuths picked him up this time, the official said.

“However, Kiran has revealed this, besides confessing that he provided the question paper to his uncle. His statements are being verified,” the official added. Meanwhile, Shivakumaraiah’s police custody ends on Friday and the CID officials are expected to request the court to extend it for a few more days.
