3 arrested for building collapse in Hyderabad
As the trial of the case is on Tuesday, GHMC officials are busy collecting evidence about loss of lives and property to produce in court.
Hyderabad: Police arrested three persons who were allegedly responsible for the building collapse at Hussainialam on Saturday. Another person is absconding.
Meanwhile, GHMC officials said that in addition to the court case regarding ownership of the land, due to which permission for construction was rejected, the design submitted for approval was also not technically feasible.
The building which was being constructed by Maheshwari Seva Trust for a school collapsed on Friday midnight, killing two labourers and injuring around 15 workers.
Police arrested site engineer Shiva Kumar, centering incharge Anant Reddy and builder Ameenuddin on Sunday for the accident, while trust member Shiva Kumar Bung is absconding.
Maheshwari Seva Trust, which was constructing the four floor building, had no permission for construction from GHMC. The trust claims that they proceeded as per the SC decision in their favour, but GHMC said that the land was the subject of a dispute and the case was pending trial in court and that permission was denied due to this.
As the trial of the case is on Tuesday, GHMC officials are busy collecting evidence about loss of lives and property to produce in court. "We hope the court will consider all evidence and are expecting a favourable decision," an official from GHMC said.
A team from the engineering and town planning wings of GHMC also started an inquiry into the incident. Police said the arrested persons will be produced in court. “Based on facts we will proceed,” inspector Shyam Sundar said.
