TN: Man gets two terms of 10 years jail for sexually harassing, abducting minor girl

Erode (Tamil Nadu): A 46-year-old man was sentenced to two terms of ten years rigorous imprisonment by a court in Erode on Thursday for abducting and sexually harassing a minor girl, his neighbour, in July last year.
Chinnan, a labourer of Rangasamudram near Sathyamangalam in the district, was given the prison term of ten year for kidnapping and another ten years for sexual harassment by District Mahila Court Judge N Thirunavukkarasu.
Both the sentences would run concurrently, the judge said.
According to the prosecution, Chinnan had taken the ten-year-old girl to a nearby shed and sexually harassed her on July 11, 2016.
The girl started crying and ran away from the place to her house, it had said. She then informed her parents about the incident following which they lodged a complaint with the police.
Pronouncing the order, the court recommended to the Tamil Nadu government to grant Rs 2 lakh to the girl as compensation.
