Kochi: 1 more held in fake documents case
Sources said cops have identified Roy as the person who helped Aditya to fabricate the documents.
KOCHI: The police team probing the case connected with the alleged fake bank account documents of Cardinal George Alencherry, major archbishop of Syro-Malabar church has reportedly taken one more person into custody in connection with the case. The person taken into custody has been identified as Vishnu Roy, a friend of Aditya Valavi, arrested in connection with the case earlier.
Sources said cops have identified Roy as the person who helped Aditya to fabricate the documents. He was taken into custody from Bengaluru. Sources said the probe team was having some information about him being involved and team reached Bengaluru and took him into custody.
Roy was taken into custody a day before the protest planned by People’s Forum in Kochi on Saturday seeking disciplinary action against the police officials involved in arresting and keeping Aditya in illegal custody. The Forum is holding a day-long sit-in at Vanchi Square near the High Court junction on Saturday to be followed by protest march to the office of the Ernakulam range IG.
The Forum demanded the suspension of DySP Vidyadharan involved in the arrest and alleged torture of Aditya. They have also demanded the police to stop the practice of including priests and others as accused in the case. Fr. Paul Thelakkat and Fr. Antony Kallookkaran and Bishop Jacob Manathodath are accused in the case. Fr. Thelakkat and Fr. Kallookaran have been granted anticipatory bail in the case.
