BENGALURU: Thieves struck a mobile showroom and decamped with Rs 9 lakhs cash and mobile phones worth several lakhs of rupees. The theft took place at S.S. Electronics on Silver Jubilee Park Road on Thursday night.

The thieves have gained entry by breaking the lock of the shop. Shop owner Nasir came to the showroom around 9 am on Friday and found it ransacked. He has filed a complaint stating that '9 lakh cash and 40 expensive mobile phones have been stolen.

“Nasir has been running the showroom for the last nine years. Even in 2012, miscreants had committed a theft in his shop and based on CCTV footage five people from Rajasthan were arrested. But now, the thieves have damaged the CCTV cameras and taken away the DVR box. We are, however, analysing the footage recorded by security cameras installed in adjacent shops. The thieves have taken away only around 20 per cent of the mobile phones that were in the shop. This indicates that a people from other state are behind this theft,” the police said. A case has been registered at the S.J. Park police station.
