Kozhikode: 50 cops hurt as roof collapses

The injured, five of them with serious wounds, got admitted to four hospitals in the city.

KOZHIKODE: At least 50 cops got injured after a tiled roof of a resort collapsed on them during a study camp organised by the district Police Association on Monday.

The incident occurred at a beachside resort near Thottada in Kannur minutes after port minister Ramachandran Kadannapally left the spot after its inauguration. The police said the wood-and-tile roof was dilapidated. 

The injured, five of them with serious wounds, got admitted to four hospitals in the city. They include a state committee member and two women cops attending the two-day camp.

The minister and district police chief Shiva Vikram G. visited them in hospitals. Police has registered a case against the resort.
